![]() When we finally got in the desert, the guy was riding extremely fast and for someone who has never done it before can be scary, also taking into consideration that there are no any forms of safety At some point they took us to this little oasis on top of the dune and they (of course) took our camera saying that they could have taken pictures for us but it was illegal so they were the only ones allowed to do it and then they asked for tips. We had our go pro which fortunately was hidden as otherwise they would have taken away or they would have asked extra money. We went to the desert and we got through this street full of rubbish and little kids playing on the landfills and there was a police officer at the entrance that checked our bags to make sure we didn’t have cameras. We had to pay his bike although it was not our fault and we couldn’t say anything as we wanted to just get out of there. The quad did not have the toe in the wheels, the handlebars was meant to go straight but wheels were directed to the left and my partner hit a guy with his bike. We got on our quad and one of the guy came with me and my partner was behind us on his own. For anything I was mentioning, even when I saw the carpet schools and I just asked information for simple curiosity, he was like “I’ll take you there if you want to buy some very good quality carpets” □ Anyway we also booked with them the ATV and one thing that I can recommend is DON’T GO!!!!! He took us to this very dodge place where skeletal horses, cats, dogs, cows and sheep were eating from the same landfill (If you get too emotional like myself, avoid it). ![]() They will take it as an advantage to promote you things pretending that they know the place very well and we’ll get a good price. ![]() One thing that I have learnt from them is NEVER ASK QUESTIONS. On our way home the driver offered to take us to a souvenirs shop saying that this place has EGP prices compared to others and he took us there and kind of forced us to buy something. We went to the museum and we had a guide with us which was very knowledgeable but honestly not worth it. The taxi driver seemed to be lovely (at the beginning). When we arrived at the hotel, Sayeed came to us offering their tours and, since we didn’t know if it was safe to go around without a guide, we accepted. Upon arrival no one was there and we ended up riding a random taxi which took us to the wrong place, he didn’t speak English and he wanted to drop us in the middle of the street with our luggage. We have been asked if we needed a taxi shuttle to the hotel and they booked it for us. Good luck!!!ģ.45km from downtown From what should I start? Let’s start from the pick up service, which looks like it’s a common issue for guests. If you want more? Well, not sure what to tell you. If you want a one day two night stop over for ONLY the pyramids, this is a suitable and inexpensive location. Not sure where the 3 star rating came from, but it’s more aptly a 2.5. But if you are coming to Cairo, virtually all the hotels are in those streets, so you can’t blame the hotel for the landfill outside. Ultimately, it feels a bit like a Fawlty Towers episode if it were filmed in the overcrowded, trash strewn, feral dog and cat infested streets of Cairo. The service staff are all uniformed and attentive, but seemed a little out of place in this sort of hotel. This is what we expected and thus was fine with us. ![]() Finally, the staff are professional but clearly trained to push tours on the guests. They also set up legit tours, but if you only need transport (which you will need) you will spend a fortune here just to get back and forth to dinner. The area is not good for walking and taxis are no where to be found in the suicidal death dance that is Cairo’s uncontrolled traffic (seriously guys, how about a stop light or two?!?) And the hotel will only set up ‘tours’ for you at what I considered a high cost (USD 50) for only transport to/from destinations like the main museum. The downstairs restaurant is the one spot in the hotel that appears to have been updated recently. The rooms are worn and dated but mostly clean. That’s the ambiance sorted, now onto the rest. This is of course only outdone by the (not even kidding) two ROOSTERS that begin their crowing right outside our window at 0400am. This is our third night at this hotel and the third in a row with noise that is so crisp, loud and clear I have questioned if it’s coming from my room television (it’s not). 2.03km from downtown As I lay here awake well past 10pm, the incredibly loud DJ music from some nearby club or music enthusiast (not sure which) is blaring at a volume to rival the lollapalooza center stage.
